A STOMPer sent in this video showing the former Malaysian Prime Minister saying that Malaysia’s Sukhoi fighter aircraft can bomb Singapore in a speech made at the Institute of Economics and Politcal Studies (IKAPE).
The video, which was posted on a popular video channel, features a speech the former PM made in December 2005.
Part of his speech included some information on the MiGs, also known as Sukhoi fighter aircraft, which the Malaysians purchased from the Russians.
“MiGs are sold to us without any condition. If we feel like bombing Singapore, for example, the Russians are not going to object. Any Singaporeans here? Or ex-Singaporeans?”Haha. Mahatir. your SU30s really outdated. our F-15SGs can shoot your 30's down.

This is what happens when somebody who doesn't read the news discovers something and thinks its a big deal, and reporters don't check the facts.
This is old news... Mahathir made this speech years ago and it was already reported in the news back then. And as for MIGs being also known as Sukhois.. Good grief.
This is exactly why I don't read Stomp. Nothing but loads of inconsequential and inaccurate "news".

It is not surprising that Mahathir refers to the Migs cos he was in the cabinet when they bought them. He is probably unaware of any preconditions for the sukhois as he is no longer in the cabinet. But he is right with the difference between US sourced and Russian sourced aircraft with respect to the right to use.
On whether the sukhoi can actually bomb Singapore, they can certainly try.....
