U refering to comfort ?
Think abit .....
If u are the CEO ....
U are no longer monopolisíng the taxi industries ... u have competitions from TransCab , Premier Cabs , Smart Cabs , SMRT taxis .....
Without increasing the rental , u have plenty of cabbies jumping to the greener pasture over to rival taxi companies ....
Now u want to increase the rental , can u imagine the conseqences ?
Just think on the business perspective la .....Edited by Poolman 28 Dec `07, 3:01AM

I bet Comfort dare not increase .... any bets ?
Currently which companies increase the rental , they must be prepare to see some share of drivers quit .
every company is shortage of drivers , i bet they don't dare to touch the rental .
Especially when the economy has recovered , drivers can always find a new job , cabbies can afford , not die-hard must drive taxi one .
But taxi company cannot afford to see their taxi fleet lying rusty in their back-yard .
With a driving license , drivers vacancy available simply everywhere ... license doesn't have COE .
If taxi turned rusty , COE expired , they lost more money than they invested .
So increase of rental not in cabbies dairy .

So what Comfort did , to counter this problem ?
They indirectly ... raise the rental . Strategically .
Not on the old taxi fleet , Toyota Crown .
But onto Hyundai Sonata's fleet .
Who don't know Korean cars is cheaper than Japanese ?
Who do not know 2007 COE is as low as $10,000 ? Compare to 2005 , when COE was as high as $30,000 ?
So how can the Sonata's rental be $10 higher than Toyota Crown ?
Being Automatic transmission is not the reason , the main reason was that the rental was raised indirectly .

and in the same way, fares were raised indirectly thru the same manner, but having a different starting fare for sonata's. when the crown's retire, wouldn't u be paying sonata price everywhere u go though fares were not raised directly?
those who kena the sonata really suay......

No need raise rental , i bet after Chinese New Year , more will quit Comfort ... wanna bet ?
Why ?
We stayed with Comfort because of one factor , very important factor , most comfort cabbies agree , their booking service !
Now with the current new fare structure , for me , the bookings has dropped like 90% ..... without bookings , i drive comfort for what ?
Rental so expensive , free-rental days so little , the least benefits .....
Comfort is b-ull-shitt-ing that their calls has dropped by only 10% . In my 5 years driving experience , not a Single Friday i has to do with no bookings at all .
Today , i had to work without any bookings , but i did far better overall , due to the new fare .
I for one , after CNY , will source for a new taxi operator . Comfort got the sack !!

ha serious no booking at all on Friday nite? Maybe its cos many out of country or not working lah.... last friday town area also very quiet.
Changing operator? I did some calculations. Comfort has 2 advantages in the past - booking plus cheapest diesel 0.85c. The diesel alone makes a big difference. SMRT sells at $1. Silver offers about 19% discount off caltex price of $1.447. Still comfort much cheaper if you drive a lot...

Just look at the queue at the taxi stand i really pity the driver and the damage to the enviroment ,In the city , i expect to be over-congested with taxis , it's ok to wait , most 5 minutes , will got pax .....
But all chain-reaction , housing estate pretty quiet , that's what killed cabbies .
Also Airport also too many taxis ....

Comfort's 4 days = $ 364.08.
It need no mathematician to figure out who has got better benefits .
Premier pump price , $1.04 .

Premier pump price , $1.04 .Assuming you pump 30 litre a day, comfort save you (1.04-0.85)*30*365 = $2080 a year. Correct?
